GE president for Southeast Asia Stuart Dean, who is interested to power the locomotive back, said attracted during the next decade with a target construction 20 locomotives a year. "About 20-30 per cent can be done in Indonesia," said Dean to Vice President Jusuf Kalla in Jakarta, yesterday. Dean adds, GE undertakes repairs locomotives in Indonesia, although the majority are German-made locomotives. According to Dean, GE also wanted to make a carriage factory in Indonesia that would cost cheaper than importing from abroad. GE has demonstrated the manufacture of high-tech locomotives with PT Inka. Kalla welcomed GE's intention was mainly associated with the plan of a mass transportation facility in Java. However, Kalla asked that GE also glance at a railway outside Java, such as a coal haul road in Sumatra and Kalimantan. | |
